I wasn't going to do a formal critique, but x-crossroad asked me to after the note I left
So, as I said in my short little doodle, I would have tried to get at a different angle, so that we could see more of this darling elephant's face. This of course, might have been impossible due to the i'm sure large enclosure he was in! My other thought was to zoom in just a bit if you wanted to include his whole body- cutting away some of the not needed 'negative' space around him. I also might have as an addition having zoomed in, done a second picture of his face and trunk, the wood and part of his front legs (perhaps half way between his right foot and right knee?).
Either way, this elephant is adorable! Great job at capturing him learning something new!
This is very good. Well focused, I enjoy that the the focus is universal over the elephant and the log. This is heightened by the large amount of out of focus background area. I would have cropped abit more off the far right dead space inorder to balance out the weight that the eleph/log brings to the viewers attention and draws the eye more to the left. This unbalances the photo abit and I think cropping the left some would help. My only problem with the focus is that block of wall or something at the elephant's butt only heightens the off center weight of the picture, but it's a secondary thing. if it could of been either captured or shopped to make less in focus, I think would have helped. I also might have rotated the picture abit so that the bottom of the elephants feet were more horizontal, thus not giving the eye a slight incline to follow which takes away from your focus.
Overall very great pose capture, and super cute. :3
